How
we support PVOs/NGOs
CSTS+ has a three-dimensional approach to providing
assistance: we work with PVOs/NGOs directly, with the Child Survival
Collaborations and Resource Group (CORE), and with the Child
Survival Grants Program office at USAID. CSTS+ provides this
assistance in a number of ways, including regional training
events, telephone and in-person consulting, and dissemination
of technical and informational documents.
CSTS+
assistance includes:
Child survival intervention advising--State
of the art knowledge and resources on practices in nutrition,
safe motherhood, integrated management of childhood illnesses
and other strategies
Applied
research, data collection, processing, and information utilization--Assistance
for qualitative research; the Knowledge, Practice, and Coverage
survey; health facility assessments, etc.
Monitoring
and evaluation-- Resources for developing needs assessments,
ensuring stakeholder involvement, participatory design and on-going
program tracking
Organizational
development--Resource and consulting on leadership development,
team-building, strategic planning, and partnership building
Information
dissemination and communications-- Dissemination of information
on child survival programming, lessons learned, promising and
best practices, and project results
Detailed
Implementation Plan (DIP) consulting-- Review and consultation
on draft DIPs to clarify the program plan and ensure that the
indicators being tracked are fully representative of project
activities
Automated
Child Survival Information System (ACSIS)--A web-based array
of databases and tools giving an overview of the global child
survival program, as well as contact information and intervention
mixes for current projects
Connections
with other organizations--Referrals to other organizations
which are addressing or have addressed similar issues, or that
may have additional resources
