9:15     Dialogue on Innovation in the CSHGP: A Strategic Niche for PVOs and NGOs

 

Objectives:

  1. Find common ground on how the CSHGP defines innovation
  2. Advance the thinking around how to incorporate innovation in project designs and how to document and showcase project innovation

 

1.      Small Group Activity/Brainstorm  (30 minutes):

 

       At the project level, what is defined as an innovation?

       How would you define “innovative” project design?

10:15  Presentations: Perspectives on Innovation

 

¨     CORE:  Highlights from Diffusion of Innovations Process; Is a local innovation valuable in the national context?  (15 mins)

 

       CSHGP: Impressions/Expectations of Innovation (15 minutes)

 

10:45  Group Discussion: Strengthening Innovation

 

Small groups (25 min)

 

What recommendations does the group have for:

o       how you might strengthen the innovative aspects of your program

o       how you can better articulate innovation as it relates to your program design

11:45   Dialogue: Strengthening Program Design to Enhance Country Impact

 

Objective:

Present and discuss the Mission perspective on the value added of the CSHGP

(30 minutes)

 

 

12:15   LUNCH (Working Lunch)

 

12:45   Dialogue:  Feasible Indicators for Annual Monitoring and Portfolio Level Reporting  

 

Objective:

Gain consensus on Portfolio-level indicators in MCH

 

            1. CSHGP leads a presentation to explain the annual monitoring and portfolio level reporting expectations/requirements.

 

            2. Group Dialogue – after Q&A, small groups consider the feasibility of collecting the indicators proposed (20 min.); groups report out and continue as large group discussion.

 

2:00      Dialogue:  A CSHGP “Learning Agenda”: Opportunities, Gaps, and Potential Directions for Showcasing Lessons and Achievements

 

Objective:

Gain consensus on a learning agenda for FY 08

 

1.      The CSHGP is interested in raising the visibility of its grantees and program over the next year, and for establishing mechanisms by which grantees can more effectively learn from each other as they implement their projects.  (presentation 10 min)

 

2.      Small groups (25 min)

 

¨     What additional recommendations would grantees make for priority activities that could be supported through the CSHGP over the next year?

¨     How should the CSHGP seek to establish leadership – through what technical lens and in what area? 

¨     How can the CSHGP increase analytic rigor in current areas of effort and what other areas should be considered for the future? 

¨     What key messages should the CSHGP communicate about its program and how?
